Return to Mt. Ida and the 2nd State Series

18 Apr 2016 by Don Cherry

Terry has organised a treat for us in this Saturday’s event just north east of Heathcote.
Courses 1, 2 and 3 on a 1:15000 map are in classic challenging spur/gully terrain with courses from 8.0 km to 4.4 km. Courses 4 and 5 (3.3 km and 2.2 km) are on flat terrain and are the ‘new’/ unused-to-date 1:7500 courses prepared for the 2015 Heathcote Community Games. The event centre is at the Dargile Picnic Ground which has a picnic shelter, tables and toilets – directions on Eventor. The usual 12.30 – 2.00 pm start window.

Reminder also that this coming Sunday is the next State Series event, to be held at Bullengarook, near Gisborne. ENTRIES CLOSE midnight 19th April. Details on the events page and on Eventor. Mark Hennessey invites you to “stretch your legs in the beautiful Lerderderg forest” in gently undulating plateau terrain.

Congratulations to all participants over last weekend whether it was the club orienteering at Birds Reef (see Club website for report and results), the Golden Triangle MTB Epic or the State MTBO championships at Beechworth (go Jack and Peter). What a busy weekend for those able to get in amongst it! All the best for those going to the Anzac weekend ultralong events in central Australia too.
